About Shaura
Ever since I was a small child I have been connected to my imagination and the hidden realms around me. In my 20’s I felt isolated from the rest of the world and brought experiences of darkness to others and myself as a result of that. In 2004 while visiting my family in Oregon I was sent on a spiritual journey by Native Indians where I re-discovered love. Then on returning home from a Lakota Indian Sundance ceremony in 2005 I had a dreamt that I needed to find a teacher.
While in Oregon a friend introduced me to Yoga, which seemed a good place to start, I searched the Internet and found Kundalini Yoga and Hari Har Ji, a teacher of teachers.
Around the same time I decided that I wanted to learn how to do Reiki and I found the Seichem system that incorporates the elements of earth, air, water & fire. This seemed to fit perfectly to me after my experiences with Indians, which incorporated the same.
In August 2005 I started learning about energy and Reiki.
In January 2006 I started my first Kundalini Yoga teacher training comprising of six intensive weekends at an organic farm and 1 intensive week at an ashram in the French Alps where I received my Kundalini Yoga Level 1 certificate.
In January 2007 I completed Stress Week Intensive at the France ashram as part of my Kundalini Yoga Level 2 certificate.
In July 2008 I became a Reiki/ Seichem Master to enable me to pass on what I have learnt about energy and healing to others.
In July 2009 I went back to my Indian friends and started a commitment to Sundance. My focus from there to here has been about developing myself, the Yoga, meditation energy work and spending time with my family. Although Sundance is not an accredited training programme, it is a huge mental, physical and emotional eight-day journey that brings me closer to myself. I returned there in 2010 and 2011 and continue to grow and learn
In August 2010 I decided that I wanted to take what I had learnt about stress and anxiety control into the community and started to volunteer as a relaxation therapist at a local alcohol support service. I have also done some mainstream training around alcohol abuse and mental health first aid.
In May 2011 I learnt how to do Tsuboki Face Massage which is a very special and nurturing massage that works on the neck, face and eight energy meridians that run through the face giving a deeply relaxing experience as well as encouraging general balance to health.
My next mission is completing a Mental Health Yoga Therapist course and an adult trainer certificate.
My work tends to reflect both the eastern and the western influences that have been present in my development and through my work in the community, I have learned to think outside of my spiritual box to offer relaxation and anxiety techniques that work on the mind and body.
I believe that we grow both in the light and in the dark and that there are windows in our lives where we have the potential to change our lives into just what we want them to be, I am committed to helping people do that where I can.
Outside my work and my own spiritual journey the most precious things in my life are my partner, son and dog and I’m grateful every day for the gifts that I have been given.
I offer Kundalini Yoga classes or one2one, Fusion Yoga class or one2one, Meditation on a one2one basis, Reiki/Seichem treatments and training, Tsuboki facelift technique.
About Chris
Hi I’m Chris and my journey into Yoga and health started in my early 20’s while I was working in the media. Around about this time I started to suffer from depression and loss of hearing. I think this was my intuitional guidance system trying to tell me to look at my life and make changes. I was not able to hear myself at this time and a little while later I was hospitalised with severe pneumonia. During my stay I contemplated what was important for me and started thinking about how I could remain integral to myself yet still function in today’s society. I left hospital without any real answers but as I had started asking the questions those answers were not far away. Not long afterwards I came across a book called “The New Book of Yoga” by the ‘Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre’.I knew that the answer had come and without any prior Yoga experience I decided that I had to teach Yoga.
In May 2002 I did a four week intensive teacher training in Dorset which covered Asana, Pranayama, history & philosophy of Yoga and received my ‘Yoga Siromani’ teacher certificate.
In August 2003 I did a 5 week intensive advanced teacher course at ‘The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre’ in Quebec, Canada and received my ‘Yoga Acharya’ Certificate.
In May 2005 I did another teacher training in the Loire Valley, France.
In August 2007 I did a 2 week sadhana intensive that covered advanced Pranayama practice based on the Swami Vishnu’s personal sadhana practice and received my ‘Yoga Bhaskara’ certificate.

Over the last ten years I have also studied Yogic food preparation and diet, which has led to an interest in the Ayurvedic system and I have a good working knowledge around Ayurveda and food. Meditation and Mantra are part of my daily practice and through the Yoga, I can experience Union with existence. I cannot explain what this practice has brought to my life other than to say that together with my family Yoga, has given me a life worth living. Though I am very devoted to all Yoga and especially the Sivanada system, I’m mindful of the fact that while some people want to go to a regular class, stretch, relax and tone then think no more about it until the next week others want a more in depth experience so I work at meeting everyone’s needs in my classes.
I would invite you to come along and try one of my classes (see class page) or contact me for any one2one queries. |
