Hatha Yoga

"Hatha is the sanctuary for those suffering every type of pain. It is the foundation for those practising every type of Yoga."
Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

Asanas are the first step of Hatha, they give steadiness, health, and lightness of body.
The exercises are slow and meditative allowing for personal transformation; physical; mental; emotional and spiritual. Giving us a peaceful nature within.
Inner light shine fourth.

What to expect in a class

A usual class runs for an hour and half.
Beginning with relaxation
Then Gajanam slokas this is a poem/prayer to intune the mind to the class.
We then do Pranayama – Breathing techniques followed by brief relaxation.
Then Sun Salutations to warm up and energize.
Followed by Asanas – Steady postures 12 basic ones in all plus variations.
Then final relaxation 10 – 15 mins
We then finish with meditation and final prayers.

Yoga is by no means is a quick fix but a methodical way of getting to know ourselves and our position in the world. It is the building block to reach a state of inner peace. This takes time, patience and practice.
Until I found Yoga I had little understanding of my body and the inner workings of my mind from an experience perspective. Yoga has taught me how to slow down the brain waves to give me a clearer understanding of the natural laws which govern our existence.
I have found Yoga to be of great help and support to my physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

"Health is wealth. Peace of mind is happiness. Yoga shows the way."
Swami Vishnu Devananda
